Assistant Store Manager- Tewksbury

Summary/Objective

Mahoney's Garden Center has an exciting opportunity for an experienced garden center professional. For those interested in becoming a Store Manager, this position will give you the training and knowledge needed. This qualified management candidate will be responsible for assisting with store operations and the organizational structure of the location. Entails maximizing sales and profitability coupled with meeting all customer needs and demands.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Store Manager to establish and ensure margin contributions for all departments
  • Guides purchasing and manages inventory control for seasonal and non-seasonal products throughout the year
  • Ensure that staff is checking in, receiving & pricing products accurately
  • Verify that inventory discards are processed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintains security, control and theft awareness with staff and managers
  • Communicates on a timely basis, weekly reporting, markdowns, specials, promotions, sales,payroll, accounts payable and more
  • Works with Store Manger to identify personnel needs
  • Advises and assists in training all employees on OSHA & Right to Know laws & regulations
  • Communicate all financial functions to all supervisors & staff
  • Works directly on the retail sales floor providing direction, leadership and support to all employees
  • Assures proper service of customers, proper inventories merchandised to supply customer demand
  • Provides daily work assignments, delegates' duties and trains staff
  • Functions in an oversight capacity to each department and establishes lines of communication throughout the store
  • Ensures store is kept clean and presentable
  • Assists and oversees implementation of annual marketing plan
  • Executes the merchandise and marketing plan throughout the store with managers and key personnel
  • Oversees the maintenance of vehicles, equipment & facilities management
  • Enforce OSHA regulations
  • Maximize efficiency of all overhead costs where applicable


Competencies

  • Three years garden center management experience

Work Environment

This job operates in an indoor and outdoor retail business environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. You must be willing and able to serve in any weather condition, out of doors.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing repetitively throughout the entire shift. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
