Inventory Coordinator- Wayland Store

Responsible for all cashier and administrative functions at the store level. Will be working parallel to the General Manager to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all facets of the store. This position allows the GM to concentrate on selling and merchandising the store. You will report directly to the Assistant Controller.

  • Control paperwork both incoming and outgoing (i.e. purchase orders, cost transfers, a/p backup, etc.)

  • Input new inventory items as they are ordered or as they arrive

  • Print tags; keep bar code printers clean and well maintained

  • Assist GM and managers with the inputting of store-level Purchase Orders

  • Communicate with the Winchester Store Controller on any central PO’s and print all goods received forms and/or spreadsheets for those orders

  • Verify that all receivers have been entered into CounterPoint in a timely manner

  • Keep an accurate inventory by using PO’s, Receiving’s, inventory adjustments, and scheduled spot checks

  • First line of defense if hardware fails

  • Train all employees that will be responsible in the write out of inventory and enter all inventory adjustments into CP

  • Enter Cost Transfers in and out when necessary

  • Assist in inventory clean-up & database maintenance efforts

  • Ensure that all month/year end procedures are followed and that all paperwork is entered within the correct period

  • Work with GM to ensure an accurate inventory count – this includes but is not limited to assisting with scheduling, assigning of areas, & staff meetings.

  • Manage petty cash, give it out and replenish it when needed.

  • Perform other related duties as required


  • Prepare the cashier schedule and make sure that all shifts are covered.

  • Assist with the recruiting of new cashiers

  • Train cashiers on the POS system, company policies and procedures, and customer service

  • Prepare the banks on a daily basis to be sent to Winchester or Falmouth Office

  • Resolve any variances with the banks

  • Order supplies for register areas (i.e. pens, invoice paper etc.)

  • Keep an inventory of gift cards and customer loyalty cards.

  • Control customer loyalty scheme; making sure all paperwork is accounted for and sent to head office

  • Maintain a sufficient supply of bills and coin for registers


  • 1-2 years of inventory control experience

  • Retail experience is a plus

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to individuals at all levels.

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Attention to detail in handling all paperwork, understands paperwork flow.

  • Appropriately delegates tasks and uses time well.

  • Works independently, solves problems effectively, is resourceful when questions or challenges arise

Work Environment

This job operates in an indoor and outdoor retail business environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, repetitively throughout the entire shift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as needed.
